This photo was taken while in Dubai a few weeks ago. It is of the World’s tallest building, the Burj Kalifa. Standing 2,717 feet tall with over 160 stories and three million square feet of space; the Burj Kalifa is the most majestic piece of modern architecture I have ever seen. It took six years from excavation to occupation but the building is still unfinished, there are around 20 floors above the observation deck that were, as far as I could tell, just a skeleton of what is to come.
The views from the top of the Burj Kalifa are absolutely breathtaking. Skyscrapers below look like tiny, to-scale models. People and cars are so small that they are practically indecipherable from the rest of the landscape.
At the foot of the Burj Kalifa is the World’s largest shopping mall, of course, as well as a giant reflection pool with regularly scheduled water shows that put Las Vegas’s famous fountains to shame.
If given the chance to visit Dubai, make a trip to and up the Burj Kalifa your top priority. Tickets are as cheap as $20 with reservations a day in advanced or $100 to skip the lines and go straight to the top.
